Bailey Kupfer - General Manager
I moved to Sheboygan over two years ago and fell in love with this area instantaneously. I was born and raised in southeast Wisconsin. I started in the hospitality business at 17 years old when I become a Girl Scout camp counselor. After college, I worked in the wedding industry taking photographs, thanks to my then roommate, and greatly enjoyed going to events every weekend. During this time, I went back to school for a Pastry and Baking Arts Degree while continuing to work weddings on the weekend. Some weekends I would bake cakes and deliver desserts to one wedding and then take photos at another one later that same day. After losing my Pastry Chef job due to Covid, I was offered the position as an Event Planner at a Sheboygan County Golf Course. Serendipity found me the perfect parcel of land to build a hotel and event center; with the help of a few partners Watershed Hotel went into construction late 2021 and the rest is history in the making. |
Eco-Friendly Policy
Watershed Hotel strives to be eco-friendly. As we designed and built the building, we looked for ways to make a hotel and business more environmentally conscious. We included an air economizer in our lobby that brings outside air into the building to cool it on temperate days; this reduces the use of electric air conditioning, but will still keep guests cool in the lobby and lounge of the Watershed. In all the bathrooms, we have done away with single use plastic shampoos and soaps. We are using sealed shampoo and soap dispensers to decrease the amount of plastic that constantly would be thrown away. Also in our bathrooms, all of the vanities are topped with a recycled composite material countertop. In order to reduce water usage in the showers, we installed shower heads with attached hoses that are meant to be turned on once you are in the shower and only take 8 seconds to heat up. For our breakfast and coffee bar, we are using paper products that are either or both, made out of recycled products or are compostable; including our plastic drink glasses and coffee cup lids. In order not to waste coffee, we have installed single cup machines that will make you a hot cup at any time in less than 30 seconds. In our pavilion, for our events, we installed infrared heaters that only heat your body, but not the surrounding air. This will keep people warm, but uses significantly less energy.
In order to properly clean and care for our irons and hairdryers and to lower the clutter in the hotel rooms, the iron and hairdryers are an asked for amenity. We also have two pack and plays for toddlers and infants on request and sets of dishware for long term stay guests. On recommendation from the health department only staff members will scoop ice for guests. Please ask the front desk agent for any of these items.
Watershed Hotel is a small business, so we do not man the front desk 24/7. If you are arriving after 10 PM, please call ahead and let the front desk agent know. Thank you.
Another unique concept that we have installed is Light Housekeeping for when guests are staying longer than one night. This means that a housekeeper will not enter rooms to clean on a daily basis. If a guest needs new towels or garbage taken out, just let the front desk staff member know and they will take care of the issue. Every 7 days, a housekeeper will enter a long term stay guest's room and change the sheets and do a quick clean, unless asked not to.
The Watershed Hotel tries to provide the best and ecofriendly service that it can, but is always open to suggestions. Please feel free to head to the Contact Us page to let us know how your stay was. Thank you for staying at The Watershed Hotel. It is our pleasure to host you.
